Rally to Defund the NYPD & Change Confederate Street Names

  • Fort Hamilton Army Base 101st Street and Fort Hamilton Pkwy Brooklyn, NY, 11209 United States (map)

Join us for a rally to demand that our local politicians stand with the thousands who have taken to the street these past weeks to demand that at least $1 billion be cut from the NYPD budget, to be invested in healthcare and education, social and youth services.

The rally will be held at the Fort Hamilton Army Base, where we will also demand that streets on the base honoring Confederate soldiers are renamed.

Bay Ridge stands with Black Lives, and this means that we demand all forms of racism are dismantled - both through defunding the NYPD, as well as changing outdated Confederate street names.

This is a family-friendly event. Please wear a mask, and maintain social distancing. Bring water, sunscreen, and your signs!

Our schedule is as follows:
11:00 to 11:30 AM: Chalking the sidewalks outside the base with solidarity messages for the Movement for Black Lives. (bring your chalk!)

11:30: Speeches and SPEAK OUT

Rally and chalking will continue in Cannonball Park after the Rally.
